Queanbeyan Locals take out the Queanbeyan Cup 2010-05-27 (Latest News)
The 2010 Queanbeyan Cup run on 16 May 2010 proved to be a very successful day for not only local trainer and Queanbeyan Cup Winner Mike Petrovic but other local trainers Myffy Rae, Neville Layt and Darren Bailey who also cheered home winners on our premier day of the racing season. Mike Petrovic's trained Carski Drum did one better than last year's second place and ran an exceptional race beating 13 other hopefuls to the post to take home the top prize and bragging rights for the new racing season. Goldviva took out the 2YO Golden Bullet for local trainer Neville Layt, Darren Bailey's Country Style Boy also had a fantastic run to win the 1600m Maiden Plate and finally Myffy Rae cheered on Lady Mystic to take out the Benchmark 62 Handicap. Congratulations to all our race winners on the dayRacing was not the only feature of the day with 16 year old Bungendore local Beth McAllister winning the best dressed lady category for the Riverside Plaza Fashions on the Field, Beth was embraced by the corporate marquee amphitheatre that provided a suitable back drop for the Judging. Other categories for this event included best dressed couple, male and child. Riverside Plaza star search winner Claudia Tetreault had the crowd on their feet for the singing the National Anthem prior to the running of the Cup. The kids had a fantastic time with a jumping castle and face painting while the parents enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the race day.
